Enough Talk

Talking is great, setting goals is great, checking in on the progress of your goals is great. Those are all habits of successful people. They take the time to figure out exactly what it is they want and constantly check up on the speed of their progress. Constantly talking and finding ways to make faster or more efficient progress. This is one of the main cornerstones of success, you must constantly innovate in order to stay relevant or on top.

Rewinding a bit, before the self help industry boom and before social media (although you could argue commercials were the previous generations form of social media), the previous generations were comprised of hard workers. People woke up, went to work, worked hard for promotions and earned their keep.

Back to the present day, we have swung to the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Now rather than bearing down and working hard, we talk, talk and talk some more about what we want. We sit idly by and stare at boards and screens filled with our hopes, dreams and goals. Oh yes, we work our asses off at planning. But when push comes to shove, there is very little action.

The magic formula is a mix of the two generational mindsets. You need to be able to talk out your goals, visualize them, write them, etc but you also need to be able to ACT on them. Once you give yourself a set of directions, you need to become “old school” and start grinding and working towards the goals you set for yourself.

This could potentially be part of the reason why we are seeing an ever growing wage gap. The successful people at the top know what they want and act on it. The non successful people know what they want but never act, thus stay stuck in the same spot. Slowly but surely those with action start distancing themselves.

Bottom line, figure out what you want and go after it like your life depends on it. Even if you fail to achieve your goals, you’ll still be in a different spot than when you started.
